About CTET

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education as first step towards selection of Primary School Teachers (Class I to VIII) in Government Funded and or Recognized Schools.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF CTET

(i) Paper I: For candidates who intends teaching classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II: For candidates who intends teaching classes VI to VIII.
Note: Candidate can give both papers if intends on teaching Classes I through VIII (Paper I and Paper II).

 

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), one mark each, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There is no negative marking.

Eligibility

Primary Teacher (Classes I-V)

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure),
Regulations, 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in
Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Elementary (Classes VI-VIII)

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor
in Education (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and
Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.

Certification

A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered as TET pass.


(a) School managements (Government, local bodies, government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to person belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation policy.

(b) Should give weightage to the CTET scores in the recruitment process however, qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.

Upload Scanned Images of latest Photograph and Signature

Pay examination Fee by e-challan or debit/credit card

STEP 6

Print Confirmation page for record and future reference.
