UPTET 2019

What is UPTET?

Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a state-level exam conducted by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). The exam is conducted once a year for the recruitment of primary (classes I-V) and upper primary (classes VI-VIII) level teachers in schools of Uttar Pradesh. 

Over 15 lakh candidates appear for UPTET exam every year. In 2018, about 17 lakh students appeared for UPTET while a total of 18.25 lakh candidates applied for the exam.

October 31

UPTET 2019 notification has been released on October 31.

UPTET application form releases

November 1

UPTET 2019 application form will be released on November 1.

Application process closes

November 20

The application process will end on November 20.  

Last date for application fee payment

November 21

Registered candidates will be able to pay the application fee latest by November 21. The application fee has been revised to Rs 600 for General category and Rs 400 for SC/ ST category.  

Printout of the completed application form

November 22

Registered candidates will be able to take the printout of the completed application form till November 22.

December 12

UPTET admit card 2019 will be released on the official website on December 12.

UPTET exam

December 22

UPTET 2019 exam will be held on December 22 in two shifts - 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM (paper-I) and 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM (paper-II).  

UPTET preliminary answer key

The preliminary/ draft answer key will be released on the official website on December 26.

Answer key objections

Objections (if any) can be raised latest by December 30.

The final UPTET 2019 answer key will be released on January 16.

UPTET Selection Process

UPTET selection process includes the following stages:

  • Written exam: UPTET exam consists of two papers. Paper-I needs to be given by aspirants who plan to teach classes I-V. Paper-II needs to be given by candidates who plan to teach classes VI-VIII. Candidates who plan to teach classes I-VIII need to appear for both the papers.
  • UPTET result: UPTET result is announced by UPBEB on the official website of the exam. Candidates scoring minimum 60 per cent marks in the written test are declared UPTET qualified.
  • UPTET eligibility certificate Candidates qualifying the written test are issued an eligibility certificate by UPBEB. Candidates having the certificate are eligible to apply for teaching jobs in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The validity of UPTET eligibility certificate is five years.

UPTET Exam Day Guidelines

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by UPBEB in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test. Some of the important things that candidates need to keep in mind on the day of UPTET exam are:

  • Candidates must carry at least two ball-point pens of black and blue colour and a pencil to the allotted UPTET exam centre
  • Candidates should carry UPTET admit card to the test centre
  • Along with the admit card, candidates are also advised to carry two passport size photographs and a photo ID proof (PAN card/ driving license/ voter ID card/ passport/ Aadhar card/ ration card) to the centre
  • Candidates should not carry any study material or electronic gadget such as calculator and digital watch inside the examination hall

A: No, UPTET exam is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test.

A: The UPTET eligibility certificate is valid for a period of five years.
