The course is divided into eight semesters spanning over a duration of four years. The minimum eligibility criterion which most of the institutes ask for is a score of at least 55% (relaxable for reserved category candidates) at 10+2 or equivalent level.

Some of the popular colleges offering the course are:

  • IIT
  • BITS
  • Delhi Technological University
  • NIT
  • Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology
  • International Institute of Information Technology
  • VIT

The fee for the course varies between INR 70,000 to 4, 50,000 in India. The variation in fee is based on the location and nature of university (that is government, state/private/deemed etc.).

BE in Electronics and Telecom Engineering course admissions involve Common Entrance Test (CET) based selection method as well as merit-based selection criteria that is the percentage of marks obtained at 10+2 or equivalent level by the candidate. Most of the colleges that provides admissions through CET mechanism rely on the score of All India Level common entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, UPSEE etc while some of them go for a separate entrance exam of their own (like BITSAT, LPUNEST etc).

The course is designed to provide skills and knowledge that are linked specifically to the domain of electronics and telecom (along with the referential knowledge of computer science related aspects) to the UG students so as to equip them holistically in the subject that will enable them to persecute the learning in a practical sense.

Under Graduates in Electronics and Telecom engineering have a wide range of opportunities to choose from in terms of job opportunities such as Telecom engineer, Network Engineer, Technician, Testing Engineer, Telecom site engineer etc. After completion of graduation, one may opt to pursue further studies like M.E. and M.Phil in the said subject or may take up job opportunities associated. The average salary ranges between INR 12,000 to 15,000 a month for new graduate students in the discipline.
